Exchanges: STEX, VinDAX, Qtrade, MercuriEX

Mining Algorithm: ProgPoWZ (Modified version of ProgPoW)

Hybrid PoW/PoS Consensus: This novel asynchronous core structure alternates between proof-of-work and proof-of-stake based blocks, providing increased transaction throughput and eliminating intrusion possibilities such as 51% attacks. The protocol is designed with sophisticated difficulty adjustment algorithms to rapidly respond to network hash rate variance.

Block time: 1 minute

Original code base: Zano’s codebase was built from the ground up but was evolved from CryptoNote, Crypto_Zoidbergs original work.

Founder’s reward or analog: 0.9M Coins to founders, 1.9M coins to development fund

Development Team: crypto_zoidberg(Andrey Sabelnikov), original developer of CryptoNote, sowle, Core Developer,

Privacy Protocol:

How does the project protect users? Mixer on Blockchain

Explain the Anonymity Sets (per txn):
Zano inherited the original CryptoNote privacy model, at this moment the project is working on privacy improvements(Bulletproofs/etc)

Privacy By Default:
At this moment privacy is by default but basic. Users can increase the level of privacy by setting a higher mixing count. After privacy improvement, privacy level will be high level by default, but it will be possible to set it to basic level on demand.

Wallets

What makes your wallet easy to use?

Apart from basic transfer operations Zano wallet provides extended functionality out of the box, built-in escrow contracts or staking. Every feature of the Zano blockchain is available for all users through the convenience of the GUI

What are you doing to make the wallet more user friendly?

From the start we have made an effort to keep the interface simple. We’re planning to keep it this way and improve where necessary as simplicity is one of the key features of Zano. Every major feature will be delivered with an easy to use graphic interface.

Supported OSs: Win, Mac, Linux

GUI: Yes

Mobile: No, but it is in development. The mobile app is currently under development and is set to be released in the very near future.

Why is privacy important to your project team?
We believe that Privacy should be a basic building block when providing any financial tool such as cryptocurrency; it was one of the main attributes we introduced back in 2014 with CN and is as important today, if not more than it was then. Following the recent high-profile surveillance program exposures and endemic intrusions into personal data by big tech firms, privacy is at a premium for people around the world. But the current class of cryptocurrency solutions proposed to appeal to mainstream consumers in recent years is not an ideal market fit or are built on hype rather than tangibles.

Zano is built explicitly with the notion of providing non-discretionary privacy in the blossoming global e-commerce market. Offering advanced features like purchase API/Web plug-ins, aliases, on-chain escrow contracts, P2P contracts, and multi-sig transactions only serve to bolster Zano’s case for puncturing the glass ceiling of mainstream crypto adoption.

What makes your project stand out above other projects?

First of all, and this is very important — we didn’t do a quick fork of our project from someone’s code base and just extend it. Nearly all the source code in our project, which starts from the first CryptoNote implementation, is written by us, and we truly do know every single line of our code base, while most of the projects just took some other project and inject some changes and run it. Very few projects can claim to have built their protocol from the ground up as seen with Zano.

What do you have in the works for future development?

Currently we are working to complete the mobile wallet. After this we will continue to work on and research for a major privacy upgrade such as bulletproofs/omnirings . This will require a hard fork at some point and we believe this upgrade will give us superior privacy of any other in the space. Atomic swaps is also one of our near term goals among other things such as sharding, an alias based messenger and a voting mechanism.

What is the path to mass adoption of your project?

From the beginning our plan was to gain traction based off of project merits as our primary focus has been development. We are now working towards ramping up marketing efforts and rolling out more use cases for the marketplace. This will also include establishing fiat on ramps, addressing liquidity issues and new exchanges.

Any additional final thoughts you want to include?

We consider Zano to be the latest and most advanced form of our coding to date, based on our previous 8 years of experience building the architecture that is the foundation underpinning all CryptoNote based coins. Also having designed and implemented all the code from scratch we understand every line of code and its intended function.

Having spent all this time over the design, we can now implement and include the cutting edge of all privacy enhancements and design functions going forward while also providing a world class user friendly UX that is quite simply easy enough for “anyone” to use and start staking from. All made as easy as clicking a button while keeping “Privacy” as a standard.
